New Delhi: Tunnel Pragati Maidan along with three underpasses near Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, Kaka Nagar and Bhairon Marg will likely be opened for traffic in November.
The trial is expected to be held in October, a PWD official has revealed.
Settlement of the Pragati Maidan Corridor Project will allow signal-free movements on a stretch of 3.5 km between ITO and DPS, Mathura Road.
PWD officials said that the two underpasses built near DPS and Kaka Nagar will be opened for traffic immediately along with the tunnel 1.2 km to the bottom of the Pragati Maidan from the Ring Road to Ring Road.
Working on the portion of the tunnel under the railway was waiting but it would be finished soon, the official seized.
The corridor repair plan, work that began in 2017, consisted of tunnel and six underpasses.
It tries to Decongest Mathura Road, Bhairon Road and Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
PWD plans to operationalize four of these six tunnels in October.
“Civil works are on the verge of completion, especially on underpasses near Matka Peer and the Supreme Court.
As soon as we get a pause from the rain, we will start the last boost,” the official said.
PWD will also build service lines along Mathura Road before the trial runs.
With Ashram’s maturity is also approaching completion, stretching between ashram and ito is likely to be reduced by the end of the year.
“The trial for two underpasses, the main tunnel and Tunnel Marg Bhairon will run until October-end.
Attach Delhi’s traffic police gave his approval, the road safety audit will be carried out and the entire process is likely to be completed in November,” PWD official said.
The essence of corridor’s improvement is a six-lane tunnel that runs under Pragati Maidan and connects Mathura Road with Ring Road.
It is expected to take pressure from the intersection in Ito (used up to 62,000 passenger car units every day) and Bhairon Marg (57,000 cars every day).
A bound bound of traffic will use this tunnel for a faster vacation.
With Mathura Road also becomes signal free, peak hours will no longer look so scary.
The main recipient will be commuter going to East Delhi from South and Lutyens’ Delhi through the Indian gate and ito.
The vehicle going to South Delhi from Ito will also have access to tunnels from Mathura Road, an alternative that is very much needed for Bhairon Marg, especially during rush hour.
As a consequence, this will greatly reduce traffic in Ito Crossing.
