PUDUCHERRY: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has urged the Union government to remember Lakshadweep secretary Praful Khoda Patel accusing him of trying to communalise the island, that includes a 99 percent Muslim people. IUML national organising secretary and Lok Sabha member E Muhammed Basheer stated there have been suggestions to prohibit meat intake, introduce draconian Goondas Act to curb the voices of protest and document cases against sailors on ground. “The BJP is now sowing toxic seeds at Lakshadweep, in which over 99 percent of Muslims reside. There were strong protests from this to the island . It’s thought that Praful Khoda Patel, who had been appointed by the central authorities as the Lakshadweep secretary, has been given the job of communalizing the island whenever you can,” said Basheer. He said efforts are launched to prohibit meat intake on the island at which 99 percent of Muslims reside. He said the government had sacked the neighborhood anganwadi and health employees. “The island has ever had an innocent encounter. In addition, it has a terrific historic and cultural heritage. The government is currently attempting to execute the Goonda Act. They believe things will be simpler if they possess the charcoal draconian legislation set up to curb the voices of demonstration. Fishing is the primary livelihood. It’s also normal practice to document cases against bikers for around the slippery ground,” he explained. Basheer said he raised the issue in Parliament on February 13 this season.
