While the Rio 2016 game has seen the participation of 260 athletes in 15 heavy categories, the quota was cut into 196 in 14 classes at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year.
“This (10 heavy categories) is just a proposal, first will go to the IOC General Agency for approval followed by the IOC.
Recently whether this category will be confirmed,” President Federger Heavy Lifting India (IWLF) Sahdev Yadav told PTI .
The final decision is expected at the end of February.
“The next meeting date (IWF General Council) has not been decided.
The possibility is that in January or February it will occur,” Yadav said.
If the proposal is approved, Jeremy, which is currently competing in the 67kg men’s category must be bulk to 73kg or down to 61kg.

Asked how new categories will have an impact on the Indian camp that Jadav said, “It won’t affect us, we will take Jeremy to the top 73kg category.
I don’t think it (describes the weight category in the Olympics) will make a difference to weightlifting in India.” Repeating Yadav’s comments, Vijay Sharma National Coach said that next year’s Asian Games will be the last event where Jeremy participates in the 67kg category before moving to a new heavyweight.
“This is a good thing for us, we will start preparing the Olympics after the Asian match.
Until the Asian game Jeremy will take part in 67kg until.
After that he will move to the 73kg category.” He must work difficult to accumulate but we will manage, “Sharma said from Patiala.
This will not be the first time Jeremy must accumulate.
The 19-year-old lift from Mizoram has won the 2018 Youth Olympic gold medal in Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires in the 62kg category.
He then moved to 67kg to comply with the new Olympic category which was a new game thanks to his gold medal completed at the Commonwealth Championship in Tashkent earlier this month.
