Jammu: Security forces extend sustainable searches for a group of terrorists to Khabla forest in Rajouri district in Jammu & Kashmir after information about alleged their presence in the area as a counter-rebellion operation on Saturday.
Vehicle traffic from Thanamandi to Rajouri was suspended remembering Cordon-and-search operations in Khablan and other nearby villages in the district.
Previously, the search was limited to the area of Forest Surankote and Mendhar in the Poonch and Thanamandi District in Rajouri District.
Search operations were launched Friday night and the road was closed for traffic Saturday morning.
“The search team also fired several rounds, the operation was still on,” said the source.
While the police and the army stated that there was no contact made with suspected terrorists, the unconfirmed report stated that a terrorist had been neutralized.
During search operations that were almost a month, nine soldiers, including two JCO, have been killed in two separate meetings – in Surankote Forest on October 11 and in the Mendhar forest on October 14.
