Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha on Monday approved a 15% order for women in police posts that were not set.
Sinha made an announcement on the Day of National Girl Day and confirmed that “this is only the beginning”.
At present, without exclusive reservations, women are 3% of the total power of the Jammu & Kashmir police and the number will increase after the reservation is carried out in recruitment in the future.
“Approved 15% reservation for women in Nongazetted @jmukmrpolice post.
This is just the beginning,” Sinha said in a tweet.
In other tweets, he said his government was committed to ensuring women’s empowerment.
“For women and girls who are agents of change, the J & K government is committed to ensuring the social and economic empowerment of Shaktis Nari while guiding long-term inequality,” Sinha said in a post.
