J & K UNESCO Eyes Tag with Mughal Park Facelift

Mumbai: The famous Mughal Park that has become a metaphor for ‘Heaven on Earth’ for centuries is ready to find new lives and unesco world heritage tags if everything goes according to plan.
The J & K government signed the MoU with the JSW Foundation (Social Development of the JSW Group) last week for “Conservation, Restoration and Maintenance” of the two Gardens of its Empire – Shalimar and Nishat Bagh – led by Abha Narain’s conservation architect.
It is planned as a 36-month restoration project, Lambe directs the multidisciplinary team of historians, architects, conservationists, and horticulture to prepare blueprint of restoration works.
Meanwhile, the sin of UNESCO nominations for all six imperial parks in Kashmir – Chashme Shahi and expensive Pari Bagh in Srinagar, and Achabal and Verinag Bagh in Anantnag – Prepared by Lambe and delivered by the J & K government to the inclusion center in January List of World Heritage For 2021.
“The project monitoring committee will be appointed with the representation of the government J & K and our foundation.
We will conduct a detailed survey to produce images and take field research.
The first job will begin on the Shalimar Bagh site followed by the site Nishat Bagh as a pilot project for Showing the best practices for the conservation of these parks, “said Sangita Jindal, Chair of the JSW Foundation.
Built in the first half of the 17th century during the government of Emperor Jahangir and Shahjahan, the parks protected by ASI were placed not as the background or foreground to the tomb and the palace but as an open air salon and cultural space for the imperial audience and ceremony to him.
