Jacqueline wants to focus on social causes

Owing to the second lockdown due to the pandemic, various celebrities utilised their time in reaching out to people with help.
As India suffered a shortage of medical facilities and equipment, celebrities joined people to source out oxygen cylinders, beds at hospital and medicines.
Jacqueline Fernandez too took a plunge and focused on social work under her foundation.
The actress who in the beginning of the year was working on movies like Bhoot Police, Ram Setu among others made use of her free time to come to people’s aid.
Interestingly, the actress wanted to take up other causes, but due to COVID, she had a change in plans.
She reveals, “This year, launching my own foundation was my priority.
I always wanted to look into children’s rights, women’s rights and animal rights and focus on issues such as women empowerment through financial literacy, malnutrition in children, animal shelters and sterilization of animals.
However, due to the second wave of COVID I shifted gears completely and focused upon COVID relief.”

Talking about her work she adds, “Since the time we started, we were successful in getting 500 oxygen concentrators, we have also got free ambulances for people who cannot afford them, and are also looking at setting up a COVID centre outside of Mumbai.
We are also providing frontline workers with basic needs like sanitizers and masks.” A couple of weeks ago, the Mumbai Police thanked her on social media for distributing raincoats to the members of the force right before the arrival of monsoon in the city.
