Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will immediately start ‘Adarsh Gurukul’ in the city of pilgrims for the overall development of students at the initial investment estimate of Rs 20 Crore.
Srimandir Society Adarsh Gurukul will be formed to build and manage the proposed institution.

Gajapati Maharaja will be the chairman or president of the proposed Gurukul, where SJTA has identified 17 hectares for that, Chree Jagannath Temple Administrator (SJTA) Administrator Krishhan Kumar said after the meeting.
Gurukul proposed will be registered under the state registration law of the state government and efforts to start from the academic year 2022-23, he said.
Gurukul funds will be arranged for the purpose of establishment and management of the institution, he added to the Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnik to announce that the state government will make the initial funds of Rs 20 Crore for that purpose.
“We previously received a sum of money from the Supreme Court to establish Gurukul.
The money will be used for that purpose,” Kumar said.
He said the SJTA would transfer land to the public and the legal corners were being seen before making an agreement in this matter.
Apart from Gajapati Maharaj, chairman of the minister, Collector District Puri, SJTA administrator and several other prominent people will become members of the community who will maintain the arrangement and walk in Gurukul.
An accountant who is rented and a member of the Servitor community will also become a member of the community, he said adding that a non-profit organization would be marked to run Gurukul and a MoU would be signed for this purpose.
The meeting also approved free homes for temple servants.
“We have identified 8 hectares for purposes and every family will get a plot of about 600 square feet and RS 2 lakh for home construction,” he said.
The election will be made based on the financial condition of the recipient servants and those involved in the Srimandir Puri Daily Ritual.
The application will be searched from the servitor and in the first phase of 400 servants tend to be allocated to the house, he said.
Kumar said the repair work, maintenance and conservation of the 12th century Temple will be carried out on a five-year restoration plan to be prepared by SJTA and an Indian archaeological survey.
The state government will bear the additional burden issued in restoration work if needed.
