Jaipur: More than 90% of Covid cases among 18+ populations in the city in December are fully vaccinated.
The city reported 176 cases in 19 days this month and from 35 of these were children (who were not vaccinated because they did not qualify for vaccination).
The health department official claimed that because they were fully vaccinated, most of them did not have severe complications.
Of the 141 people who were vaccinated over 18 years old, 125 was given a dose, while six were partially vaccinated (only received the first dose).
The status of eight is not clear and two patients cannot be traced.
“Most cases reported in the city in December were fully vaccinated.
Even so, the Delta variant is still found in most cases, which has dominated the second wave of Covid,” said Dr.
Narrettam Sharma, Head of Medical Health Officer (Jaipur-I).
The Ministry of Health checks the vaccination status of people found infected.
They also sent samples to the genome sequence to identify variants.
“In almost all cases, the Delta variant was found,” said a health department official.
A family in Adarsh Nagar and the family who arrived from South Africa was tested positive for Omicron.
Officials said that it was seen that the whole family was found to be infected with Covid, including children.
In most cases the children infected with Covid, it appears that there are family members also infected.
Health department officials said if someone tested positive or had symptoms, he had to isolate himself to avoid the risk of viral transmission to other family members.
