Jaipur: A 26-year-old young man was killed and other injured after a quick multi-axle truck hit their bicycle and dragged a driver with more than 50 meters near the balaji intersection in Jagatpura Road on Tuesday afternoon.
People passed the area yelled at the truck driver to stop but he escaped after an accident.
The victim was identified as Ravi Shankar Meena, a resident of Dausa.
According to Gajanand’s sub-inspector assistant, Meena worked as a taxi bike driver.
“A Kumar Deepak, who drove a Padion in Meena, was injured in the accident.
He underwent treatment and had experienced several injuries,” he said.
Deepak had booked up about 1pm on Tuesday from Jagatpura to Narain Singh Circle.
Meena picked him up from Jagatpura when close to the underpass in Nandpuri, the truck hit a bicycle.
“Meena was trapped under the wheels and the truck driver kept dragging him.
The people who passed the area were horrified at the scene and followed the truck, but the driver jumped out of the cabin and escaped,” the police said.
Panic calls made to the police control room after several patrol vehicles and police vans arrived at the place.
A crane was called to lift a heavy truck and Meena was taken.
He was taken to the nearest hospital near the Apex circle where the doctor stated he was taken dead.
Deepak’s condition remains important.
The police said that Deepak worked in a hotel in the city and headed to the bus stand to take a bus for Alwar.
“The truck headed to the Jawahar circle when touching a bicycle,” said an official, added that Meena worked as a taxi driver in Jaipur to make a living.
He came to Jaipur from Dausa recently.
Officials claimed that the accident was terrible when Meena’s chest was torn under the heavy truck.
“He did not have the opportunity to survive and die in place.
We have notified his family members to come to Jaipur so Postmortem can be done,” officially added.
The police said that the truck driver would soon be arrested.
