Jaipur: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested members of JMC-Heritage doctor for receiving RS 20,000 bribes to facilitate the licenses of building construction.
DG (ACB) B L Soni said the Zahid Nibran council member was arrested by red-handed while accepting bribes.
ACB said that the defendant had demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 from a complainant for permission for construction.
The previous accusation took Rs 20,000 for the same job.
The complainants have approached the central probe agent who accused that the board members constantly demanded bribes for permission.
The bureau continued the team led by additional SP officials (ASP) to ensure the allegations carried out on board members, who won as independent candidates from Ward number six JMC-Heritage.
Soni told the Toi that the defendant had taken a bribe of Rs 20,000 earlier during the verification drive.
“Local council members are responsible for providing certificates without objections (NOC).
The defendant first complained about construction and then demanded bribery to give permission,” said Soni, added that the complainant had approached the bureau to complain about the board members to demand bribes.
“The accusations related to bribery are found correctly during the verification process.
We put the trap and arrest the defendant while taking the number of bribes,” said an official, adding that the defendant has so far taken a bribe of Rs 40,000 from work.
The sources at ACB said that the bureau also examined whether the defendant had demanded bribes from others too.
ACB officials were searching at home and other locations from the defendant.
The defendant had been arrested under the relevant section of the prevention of the Corruption Court.
“Investigation of this case is underway and we are looking at the location of the defendant,” an official said.
