Jaipur: Jaipur rural police on Thursday arrested a 36-year-old priest of a temple for allegedly eliminating his relatives before raping him.
According to Sho, Chandwaji police station, Jitendra Gangwani, the defendant was arrested from a temple on a hill in Virat Nagar on the outskirts of Jaipur.
The woman had submitted FIR on Wednesday where she was alleged that she went to a temple near the village of Jaichand Pura for Puja on Sunday night.
Her husband and his father also accompanied him.
The priest, who was also his relative, sent his father and husband to arrange some work, when they left, the defendant then gave him some drugs after being accused of raping him.
The next morning, the defendant took the woman to his house in his car.
He narrated his trials to his family members.
They tried to catch the defendant but he had fled.
According to Gangwani, a special team arranged to track the defendant.
“We searched Alwar, Sikar, and in the villages on the outskirts of Jaipur in their pursuit.
We finally learned that he was hiding in a small temple on the hills in Virat Nagar.
At 10 am, we held it back and then arrested him, “He said.
Sources in Jaipur’s rural police said that the defendant had left his car near Sikar and escaped to avoid catching.
The defendant was married and had four children.
The initial investigation has revealed that the temple is located near the defendant’s house.
Police said that medical examinations would be carried out and the defendant was being interrogated.
“FIR in this case was filed on Wednesday, and the defendant was arrested on Thursday.
We will record a complaint statement for further investigation,” an official said.
