New Delhi: Minister of External Minister S Jaishankar will be in Tajikistan on 13 and July 14 for SCO foreign meetings (Shanghai Cooperation Organizations).
He is expected to hold bilateral talks with foreign ministers from several participating countries.
But there was no meeting scheduled with his colleagues from Pakistan or China, both of which were expected at the meeting in Dushan Dushanbe Tajik.
Announcing Jaisankar’s visit, MEA said the Foreign Minister’s Conference will assess preparations for the next meeting of the SCO Head Council on September 16-17 in Dushanbe, and exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
The head of the State Council is the upper decision-making body in the SCO.
It meets once a year to adopt guidelines and policies about various things.
Jaisankar will also participate in group meetings contact SCO in Afghanistan.
This meeting will discuss the situation that deteriorated quickly in the country after a rushed US withdrawal.
The Afghan government will also be part of this meeting, said MEA.
Jaisankar’s visit to Tajikistan came to the invitation of the Foreign Minister Tajik Sirojiddin Muhriddin, MEA said, adding that the SCO Foreign Minister’s Meeting Council would discuss the achievement of the organization because of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of this year.
SCO is an economic block and economic security of eight members and has emerged as one of the largest transregional international organizations.
It was founded at the top in Shanghai in 2001 by Russian President, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
India and Pakistan become a permanent member in 2017.
