New Delhi: Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar on Saturday increased the issue of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan prisoners during talks with the Minister of Finance of Basil Rajapaksa, and urged for their humanitarian exemptions as a humanitarian movement.
Virtual “Detailed” meetings are held to discuss projects and investment plans by India which will strengthen the economic country of the island.
“Just concluded a detailed virtual meeting with the Minister of Finance Sri Lanka @realbrajapaksa.
Reiterated that India would be a sudden and reliable Sri Lankan partner,” Jaisankar Tweet after the meeting.
“We positively recorded the extension of the USD 400 million swap facility and the deferred ACU settlement of USD 515.2 million.
Discuss the initial realization of USD 1 billion long-term loan facilities for important commodities and USD 500 million LOC for purchasing fuel,” External Minister Affairs said.
Jaisankar said he assured that India would take other international partner initiatives to support Sri Lanka at these important points.
“Welcoming the progress at Trincomalee Tank Farm which will contribute to energy security,” he said in another tweet.
“It is considered a project and an investment plan by India which will strengthen the Sri Lankan economy,” Jaishankar said.
“Urgent the initial release of Indian fishermen in Sri Lanka prisoner as a humanitarian movement,” he added.
