Jaisankar Welcomes the Launch of Indian UK FTA Negotiations

New Delhi: Minister of External Affairs Jaishankar on Thursday met with the Secretary of the UK for International Trade Anne-Marie Trevellyan and welcomed the launch of the negotiations for the proposed free trade agreement (FTA).
India and England on Thursday officially launched negotiations for proposed FTAs which are expected to help double bilateral trade to more than USD 100 billion by 2030 and improve economic relations between the two countries.
Launched by trade and Minister of Industry Piyush Goyal and Secretary of State UK for international trade.
Jaisankar also met Trevelly and discussed “natural complementarity”.
“It’s nice to meet the Secretary of the UK State for International Trade @Annietrev.
Welcoming the launch of FTA negotiations.
A good discussion of our natural complement,” Jaisankar tweeted.
“New Indian and Global English can make a bigger difference to work together,” he said.
