New Delhi: Minister of External Affairs Jaishankar on Thursday met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Tashkent and discussed a rapidly growing situation in Afghanistan in facing the Taliban made rapid progress throughout the country after withdrawing US troops.
On the sidelines of the Multilateral Conference in the capital of Uzbek, Jaishankar also held talks with the representative of US National Security Advisors Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall and US special representatives for the Afghan Peace Process of Zalmay Khalilzad, focusing on developments in Afghanistan.
After the meeting with Ghani, Jaishankar said he reaffirmed India’s support for peace, stability and development of Afghanistan.

Repeat our support for peace, stability and development of Afghanistan,” Minister of External Affairs Tweeted.
Ghani’s office said that Jaishankar told him that India would continue his humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and provide 150,000 tons of wheat.
The Minister of External Affairs also said that India will continue to work to strengthen regional consensus to support Afghanistan.
At his meeting with US officials, Jaishankar said the view of the situation that developed in Afghanistan was exchanged.

Multilateral Conference on Connectivity in Tashkent is being attended by the highest leaders of several countries in the region including Ghani and Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In addition to connectivity problems, this conference is expected to be intentional about the situation in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan witnessed a series of terror attacks in the last few weeks when the US attracted the majority of his troops from the country and aimed at completing Drawdown on August 31, ending almost two decades of military presence in the country.
The Taliban was expelled from strength by US-led forces in 2001.
Now, because the US attracts its troops, Taliban fighters try to get control of various parts of the country.
Jaisankar went to Tashkent after a two-day visit to the capital of Tajikistan Dushanbe where he attended an important meeting of foreign ministers from the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO).
The foreign ministers of SCO countries are extensively intentional with deteriorating security situations in Afghanistan.
In a shared statement, SCO Foreign Minister said that terrorist clothing activities remained the main factor in the country’s instability and asked all relevant parties to refrain from actions that could lead to unexpected consequences.
SCO also reaffirmed its position that there was no alternative to resolving conflicts in Afghanistan through political and pitched dialogue for the inclusive Afghan and Afghan peace processes.
SCO Foreign Minister also condemned the violence and ongoing terrorist attacks in Afghanistan and specifically expressed concern for the increasing concentration of various groups of terrorists, separatists and extremists in the northern province of the country.
In his speech at the SCO meeting on Wednesday, Jaishankar said that Afghanistan’s future could not be his past and the world opposed the seizure of power and strength.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Afghanistan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar was among those who participated at the meeting.
In Tashkent, Jaishankar also held talks with his partner Bangladesh, K, Abdul Moment and Foreign Minister Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileberdi.
