NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will chair a meeting with BRICS foreign ministers on Tuesday where the leaders could exchange views on Covid-19 pandemic and regional and global problems of concern, both sustainable growth and governmental terrorism.
The Union will chair the assembly via video-conferencing.
“India since the recent BRICS Chair will convene the stand alone assembly of BRICS ministers of foreign affairs/ International Relations on June 1, 2021,” Ministry of External Affairs stated in a discharge.
Brazil ministry of international affairs Carlos Alberto Franco Franca, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi, and also South African foreign ministry Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor are anticipated to take part in the assembly.
“The ministers are expected to exchange views on the Covid-19 pandemic scenario, the demand for strengthening and firming the multilateral method with a view to improving its ability to effectively deal with varied challenges of the time and also to adapt them to modern realities, on regional and global problems of anxiety, sustainable growth, countering terrorism besides talking ways to improve intra-BRICS collaboration, particularly people-to-people collaboration,” the release stated.
