AHMEDABAD: Following a meeting held involving office-bearers of the Jagannath temple hope of Jamalpur, that holds the yearly Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, and city police officials, that the suspense continues finished holding the Jal Yatra on June 24 and Rath Yatra around July 12.
A senior police officer of this town stated they held an assembly on Friday where the temple trust suggested to maintain the Jal Yatra using 50 individuals, 1 elephant and just five’kalash’ to help keep it an low-key affair and also prevent crowds.
Generally, that the Jal Yatra is kept by five elephants along with 108 kalash with 150 men from the procession.
This past year, the Jal Yatra wasn’t held because of this Covid-19 pandemic that has been a concern that this year also.
The officer stated they have forwarded their proposition to the country home ministry that can decided on holding the procession.
He explained that the government has not permitted over 50 men at a marriage and over 20 men in burial or funeral.
Therefore, the state government must issue a notification about the Rath Yatra until it may be stored.
