Jalan Mangaluru where Padma Shri Awardee Harekala Hajabba sells oranges to be named according to him

Mangaluru: The main road in the city of Mangaluru, where Padma Shri Awardee Harekala Hajabba is used to sell oranges, will be named according to him.
Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has adopted a resolution to mention the road from the Circle of Hamilton to Rao & Rao Circle in the city after Harekala Hajabba, who was honored to build a government school in his village.
Corporator Abdul Latheef from Congress has transferred a proposal, looking for that the name of the MCC board is both Hamilton Circle or one of the nearest roads after Harekala Hajabba.
The MCC council meeting chaired by the Mayor of Programand Shetty on Thursday, decided to send a proposal to refer to the road from Hamilton Circle to Rao & Rao Circle as ‘Padma Shri Hajabba Raod’ to the City Corporation City Planning Committee, for legal procedures.
“HaraSala Hajabba, who was born from Kutyami Beary and Beefathima, has opened a school by selling oranges in the city of Mangaloru.
Although uneducated, Hajabba dreamed of building a school for his village, even when he brought a cabin of orange on his head -The child in his village must remain illiterate.
He is the pride of Mangaluru, and therefore the road where he sells oranges must be named afterwards, “said Latheef on the council met.
Programand Shetty said that the proposal would be sent to the government, after being cleared by the Kota Planning Committee.
“The committee will continue to follow the government direction in 2009, to complete the process, before sending a proposal to the government.
The proposal will be published in the vernacular newspaper, and the suggestions and objections will later be invited from the public,” he added.
Sudheer Shetty, the head of a whip from the ruling party at the Board, said that City Corporation must hold a criminal program to honor Hajabba.
Former Mayor M Shashidhar Hegde praised the council to approve a proposal to refer to the way after Harekala Hajabba.
Hajabba has received Padma Shri in 2020, from President RAM Nath Kovind, in New Delhi on November 8.
