Jallikattu with 300 bulls, 150 people get a nod

Madurai: In the midst of a number of Covid-19 cases in the state, the Tamil Nadu government has conducted Jallikattu’s behavior, one of the most crowded events during the Pongal Festival, with standard operating procedures (SOP) which allows only 300 bulls and 150 spectators.
All game participants must produce RT-PCR tests needed by negative reports 48 hours before game behavior.
While doubts win over game behavior this year due to the increase in Covid-19 cases, commercial tax minister P Muhorta is sure to conduct Jallikattu events.
However, the government issued an order to play on Monday.
The government in its order, has said that Jallikattu, which is a cultural significance and brings happiness to the public, will be carried out by obeying strict rules.
Usually, bulls are accompanied by five to six people.
But this year only the owner and someone who get acquainted with the bull will be allowed, and both must take a vaccine dose against Covid-19.
The negative report of the RT-PCR test was taken two days before the match was a must to participate in the game.
Despite the uncertainty that occurred, the veterinarian was seen examining male oxen and certifying them from Monday morning.
The government said animals must be certified three days before each match.
Speaking to reporters at night, Moory said that the match would be done perfectly this year by participating in all the norms.
The gallery should only have 50% of capacity, a maximum of 150 people.
The audience also needed a negative report from the RT-PCR test taken two days before the match and final vaccination certificate.
Previously, online registration for Bulls was proposed this year because the number of Bulls for Jallikuttu will be limited to 300, and they are for ‘Eruthu Vidum’, or ‘Manjavirattu’ to 150.
Bulls participating in the game will not be allowed by other games in the Madurai district.
Therefore, the names of participating Bulls will be announced the day before the match.
All games including the controversial Avaniyapuram Jallikattu will be held by the Administration of Madurai District.
This year, prizes will include the original breed of cows according to popular demand, said minister.
However, some social activists say that the government must reconsider the decision, because controlling the crowd at Jallikattu will not be impossible.
It can also cause riots, they said.
