NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia announced its tentative entrance test to be held on June 22, the admit cards for which were received by several students on Wednesday.
At Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), however, vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar issued a statement saying that the entrance exams could be delayed.
Jamia PRO, Ahmed Azeem, however, clarified that this was a tentative date, and the university might change it depending on the Covid condition and the lockdown situation in Delhi.
“We do not rely on CBSE marks anyway as we have an entrance test where the eligibility is often as low as 50%,” he added.
JNU VC said that the entrance exam, which is conducted by National Testing Agency, would be conducted whenever it was safe for the students to take the test.
Welcoming the government’s decision to not conduct CBSE XII exams, Kumar said, “The decision is pragmatic and rational considering the pandemic is a once in a century occurrence.
The health and safety of the students are of paramount importance.”
