Tokyo: The Japanese government plans to impose the emergency state of the virus in Tokyo during the Olympics, the report said on Wednesday, which means the audience can be banned from the venue.
Emergency actions – less strict than Lockdown blankets – will be valid until August 22, several Japanese media outlets report, following the increase in cases less than three weeks before the match begins.
“The government decided to declare the fourth emergency for Tokyo and communicate the decision to the ruling parties,” said Public Broadcaster NHK.
Kyodo News, quoting a senior government official, said now the possibility of the Olympics will be held behind closed doors.
The Pandemic match – the 2020 round will take place under strict anti-infection rules, with foreign fans it has been banned.
The organizer sets last month’s limit of 10,000 fans, or half of the capacity of each place, but recently warned that a fully closed game remains an option like a deteriorating virus situation.
