The Japanese Formula One Grand Prix 2021 has been canceled due to Covid-19 pandemic for the second year in a row, said the RAS organizer on Wednesday.
The cancellation of the competition, is scheduled for the weekend of October 8-10 at the Suzuka Circuit, following the neglect of the night race 1-3 in Singapore.
“Following ongoing discussions with promoters and authorities in Japan, the decision was taken by the Japanese government to cancel the competition this season due to the complexity of the ongoing pandemic in the country,” Formula One said in a statement.
“Formula One is now working on the revised calendar details and will announce the final details in the coming weeks.” Japan has recently hosted the Olympics in Tokyo without the presence of the audience, while the Paralympic competition, scheduled for August 24 to September 5, will also be held without fans present.
