Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has submitted his initial plan to visit US President Joe Biden this year due to a tight schedule on the US side and aims to travel early next year, three sources close to the problem.
Since serving in October, Kishida has explained that he tried to hold a summit with Biden as early as possible to strengthen bonds, but the focus of the US government on the passage of large-scale social bills made it difficult.
Kishida now aims to visit the United States around the new years and January 17, when the regular parliamentary session is likely to meet, but can be postponed until February or even later, the government and the sources of the ruling party said this week.
One source said the delay in Kishida’s visit was likely to have a little impact on bilateral relations because the prime minister had met with Biden briefly on the sidelines of the UN climate conference at Glasgow last month.
