Bengaluru: For a party that regularly punches far above its weight, JD (s) can’t get it more wrong at Bypolls.
This candidate not only lost their deposits, but the party lost the plot too.
JD (s) marks Muslims to Hangal and Sindgi in an effort to capture minority vote – which traditionally increased to Congress – and aroused his image as a secular party.
However, aware of the danger, the congress led by the leader of the Legislative Party and the former Primary Minister of Siddaramaiiah launched a sustainable campaign, accusing JD (s) to help the causes of BJP and call it ‘B team’ from the Safron Party.
His strategy seems to have worked as a Muslim voter in both segments standing with Kokress.
And this even though JD focuses on Sindgi, where it has grassroots support.
This chair was previously held by the delay in MC Managula JD, and both parties Supremo and former HD Deve Gowda PM and former Minister of HD Kumaraswamy camping in the segment for more than a week.
While it secured a gloomy voice of 4,353 (2.7%) in Sindgi, in Hang, the party candidate managed was only 927 (0.5%) from ballots.
To put it in perspective, Managuli has been voting at 70,865 votes in 2018.
In Hangal in 2018, JD received 1,028 votes.
“While we lowered candidates in Hangal even though the zero strength of cadres, in Sindgi, Congress hijacked the entire Manguli family and the power of our grassroots, so much so we didn’t even have a voting agent in the segment,” said Bandappa Kashempur, JD (s) Bidar South Mla.
Kumaraswamy said the campaign slandered the congress against JD (s) and called it ‘Team B’ BJP has produced results.
However, JD (s) functionaries defend the decision for the Muslim field in both segments.
“In Sindgi and Hangal we face serious scarcity of reliable candidates and thus resolved for candidates who are ready to compete,” Kashempur said.
Back-to-back losses in Sindgi, Hangal and Basavakaly across the North Karnataka also shows the future of the party dominated by Vokkaliga is precarious in all regions and it must be many banks to individuals who can win rather than choosing a party.
In fact, in accordance with the Indian data election commission (ECI), total voting in both vis-A-Vis constituents the number of votes surveyed places JD 1.6%.
However, Kumaraswamy defends the stability of the party in North Karnataka and said the results of the Bypoll would not have an impact on the assembly selection of 2023.
“We have held workshops for our cadres, and we will concentrate on the 2023 election with all the seriousness,” said Used CM.
