MUMBAI: Even a police constable and several others are detained for allegedly cheating on a jeweller and his partner gold bars worth $ 1.25 crore at Byculla here, an official said on Wednesday.
Acting a tip-off, the crime branch staff on Tuesday detained constable Khalil Kadar Shaikh (47), his aides Ravindra Kunchikurve (36), Santosh Nakte (27), the resident of Sewree, and also a supervisor of jeweller’s store in Lalbaug field, he explained.
The incident happened near Byculla authorities colony Monday night, once jeweller Bharat Jain (56) and his partner had been travelling with their mill onto a two-wheeler to send golden pubs, the official stated.
The duo was intercepted by 2 motorcycle-borne guys, among those wearing a police uniform,” he explained.
