Jewelry supplier robbed from 2kg gold, RS 7L

Coimbatore: Two unknown people as a gold jewelry supplier on Jalan Vadavalli-Thondamuthur on Saturday night and robbed the gold ornaments weighing 1.88kg and Rs 7.5 lakh.
Vadavalli police have formed two special teams to arrest them.
A police officer said the incident occurred when a 62-year-old Shanmugam, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Sathyamangalam in the Erode district, visited the city on Saturday to get ideals for gold ornaments and entered several jewelry stores.

After a business meeting, Shanmugam headed to his son’s house in Vadavalli at night with 1.88kg gold and Rs 7.5 lakh inside a handbag.
When he approached Chinmaya Nagar in Vadavalli-Thondamuthur Road, two people who were Borne by the bike and appeared with his handbag after attacking him, “the officer said.
The officer said the incident was recorded on the nearest CCTV camera.
“Other people also arrested the incident on his cellphone’s camera, while parking his car.
We have collected the two recordings and formed two special teams to arrest robbers.” The officer said Shanmugam supplied gold ornaments to a small jewelry store in Erode and Coimbatore for the past 20 years.
“He used to carry gold ornaments to the city often from Sathyamangalam to get a characteristic and supply them.
He was robbed for the first time on Saturday night.”
