Like: Seven girls aged between 12 and 20 years sank in a pond in a village in the Lelayat District Jharkhand on Saturday, officials said.
The tragedy took place in the village of Bukru within the Balumathath police station when the girls went to the pool for soaking after the Puja Karma, a major festival at Jharkhand, said Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran.
The rescue team was rushed to the scene.
Some people were also injured and three of them were hospitalized.
Deputy Development Commissioner District has been asked to hold an investigation, Imran said.
Karma is the main festival in Jharkhand related to mother’s natural worship.
