Ranchi: Jharkhand, who struggled against a severe Covid-19 case surge, was set to launch a booster dose for the elderly with comorbid conditions and frontline workers from Monday as part of a national roll-out.
The move assumes the importance of the state perspective after a dozen Covid deaths that have expired in less than a week.
Two days ago, the country recorded as many as eight deaths in addition to a four-digit surge.
Again on Saturday, three deaths were reported.
Officials of the State Health Office in Ranchi on Sunday said that the modalities for the booster dose began a kick had been done and all districts will begin on Monday.
Although the state government has not officially released a population estimate for a booster dose that quotes that they are dynamic and will change every day, but the source says that in the first phase, around 6.5 lakh people are eligible for a booster dose.
In accordance with the protocol set by the United States Government, 60 plus people with comorbid conditions qualified for a dose of booster only if their second dose has passed nine months or 39 weeks.
Sandip Kumar Meena, a senior vaccination responsible and SDO Dhalbhum in East Singbhum, said that qualified candidates for the dose of booster can take Jab through Walk-in at the point of government vaccine or pre-register on the co-win portal.
“In the Co-Win portal, someone does not have to register again.
In the same account used for previous vaccination, they will find tabs for booster doses, which they have to activate,” he said.
According to the norm, someone will get a dose of the third dose or booster of the same drug they took before.
As approximated, three districts in Koban – East Singbhum, West Singhbhum and Seramala-Kharsawan – have identified around 60,200, 29,602 and 29,986 beneficiaries for the booster dose beginning with in their area.
In Dhanbad, Shyam Kant Kishore civil surgeon said that they had an initial estimate of around 59,000 people for a booster dose.
“There will be no separate counters.
People can enter any vaccine center to get it,” he said.
In accordance with the vaccination bulletin issued by the State on Saturday, 2.41LEKH total beneficiaries in 18 age groups plus, 79% have received the first dose and 49% have obtained both doses.
The coverage between 15-18 years is 13.14% of the population targeted at 23.98 lakh since the drive began on January 3 this year.
