Gumla: The Jharkhand host invaded Puninging Punjab semi-final at 6-2 in the 11th quarter-finals of the 11th Junior Women’s Hockey Championship at Simdega on Tuesday.
Elin Dungdung from Jharkhand scored three goals in the 31st minute, 47th and the 52nd match, Rajni Kerketta reached two goals in the 49th and 57th minutes and Deepika Soren hit a separate goal.
Punjab, on the other hand, managed two goals scored by Karmanpreet Kaur and captain Harpeet Kaur.
Both teams play aggressively throughout the match but Jharkhand ensures regular goals to defeat opponents.
Haryana, Chandigarh and Maharashtra also booked their place in the semi-finals.
Haryana beat Odisha 5-2, Chandigarh defeated Andhra Pradesh at 4-1 and Maharashra won Uttar Pradesh 5-2 to strengthen their place in the semifinals.
SIMDEGA Hockey President Manoj Konbegi said, “Jharkhand entered the semifinals in this tournament for the 10th time.” Jharshand Hockey President Bholanath Singh congratulated the country’s team for his success.
“Jharkhand players are fine in all Indian hockey formats sponsored by the championship,” he said.
