Ranchi: The elderly pair, identified as Malgo Munda (60) and his wife Longta Hansapurty (55), has been indicated on charges of practicing magic in Tirla Village under the Arki Police Station area in Khunti Regency.
The police said the attackers killed the couple on January 6 and threw their bodies into the nearest forest.
Relatives looked for a corpse for several days before finally notifying the police on Monday about the incident.
Then, Khunti police formed a search team and found the bodies on Monday night.
They have started the probe and questioned several villagers in this matter.
Khunti SP Ashutosh Shekhar said, “Prima Facie is a case of witch’s hunting.
A woman who lives in the neighborhood has no children and remains sick constantly.
Her husband, accused of in this case, blamed the couple for the disease and led the attack.
