Chatra: Five men were arrested with 2 kg of opium and 2 kg brown sugar worth Rs 2 Crore in Pitij Village in ITkhori Block on Thursday.
The police also recovered 7.57 lakh and car cash from the person arrested.
Chatra SP Rakesh Rakesh Ranjan said that he was informed that some drug smugglers were in the village to buy sugar and brown sugar.
“A team led by DSP (headquarters) Kedar RAM was formed.
The team reached Pitij on Thursday afternoon on the basis of input and arrested three men,” he said.
Following Trio’s interrogation, two more were arrested.
“In addition to RS 7.57 lakh cash, 10 cellphones and cars are also confiscated,” he said.
The arrest accusations were identified as Raju Dangi, Adita Dangi, Sanjay Dangi, Rajesh Dangi and Subhash Kumar Dangi.
The source said they tried sending the consignment up.
