Jharkhand plans Special IDs to weed out’ghost’ farmers

Ranchi: The state agriculture department has chosen to offer a special identification (UID) number to each farmer to guarantee easy transfer of advantages below agri-related schemes.
However, for now, the section has started allotting’seed sheeting’ for farmers.
The tokens carry specifics of seeds spread, land accessible with the farmer as well as his/her Aadhaar and cellular number, amongst others.
In the forthcoming months, the division will offer each single tribe a digitised chip-based card together with their distinctive ID number which may carry all appropriate information relevant to the transactions between the two and the authorities.
Speaking to TOI on Monday, say agriculture director Nisha Oraon stated the move was supposed to make more transparency and bud out’phantom’ farmers to stop cases of forgery in agricultural tactics.
“We’re working to bring a card out for farmers around the traces of Aadhaar.
We’ve begun devoting’seed blossom’ to each farmer.
The token includes fundamental details of seed supply, period of allotment, land accessible using the farmer, their Aadhaar and cell number.
Farmer’s UID is going to be an expansion of this seed blossom,” she explained.
The practice will also enable real time confirmation of farmers.
According to government documents, there are approximately 35 lakh farmers from the country.
“Hence the ID movement will help people authenticating the farmers and also in making sure that real farmers are not left out of some strategies,” she explained.
For the very first time, Jharkhand started distribution of kharif seeds May 12 this season, weeks before the monsoon.
Oraon stated that they had placed requests for 43,483 quintals of seed along with 18,000 quintals of seed have been dispersed.
The section has been anticipating a comprehensive report on harvest losses because of cyclone Yaas.
“Preliminary reports indicate rabi crops suffered harm in certain areas such as Latehar and Kolhan areas but we’re waiting to get a comprehensive report on harvest damage to organize suitable reimbursement from qualified authorities.
The nation, however, is optimistic for a great kharif season this season since conditions have been favourable and the section, also, has worked ahead to offer timely help for farmers,” she explained.
