Coimbatore: A 45-year-old widow woman raised her in front of her home house at KVR Nagar in Tirupur on Wednesday after her lover rejected her.
Middle police Tirupur identified the victim as Deivanai, a native of the Tirunelveli District.
He survived a son and a daughter.
Her husband had died 15 years ago.
An investigative officer said Deivanai lived in a rental house at KVR Nagar for more than a decade.
“He worked at a Banian company where he fell in love with a colleague.
He married and lived with his family.” Deivanai, the officer said, often sad to marry him.
“Therefore, he began to avoid it.
He then filed a complaint to the South All-Woman Tirupur police, looking for their intervention to unite it with a lover.” Police held talks with them and suggested them not to fight.
However, Deivanai was frustrated, because his request was not fulfilled.
“On Wednesday, he came out of his house, watering him with kerosene and burned himself.
He died in place,” the officer said.
When warned, the Central Tirupur police sent a corpse to a government hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the woman discussed it on the streets to viral on social media.
Tirupur Central Polda has registered a case below section 174 of the criminal procedure code (CRPC) and further investigation.
