J’Khand, Bro and Ladakh for MoU ink to protect state contractual workers

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government will sign a tripartite agreement with the Ladakh Union Area and Jalan Border Organization (Bro) to build a safe and responsible migration center (SRMC) in Ladakh, which will protect the interests of the country’s contractual workers.
Bro agreed to sign the agreement and Empanel itself as an employment institution with the Jharkhand government during a meeting with the Officer of the State Department of Labor and the Union in Ladakh on October 29 this year.
The central organization also agreed to get rid of “intermediaries”, which are commonly known as friends, while hiring workers from the country.
Every year, more than 18,000 people are involved in bro infrastructure development projects in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand crossing three seasons.
Especially from districts in the Santhal Pargana division dominated by tribes, these workers are employed by friends, who pay them economically and give them a few facilities at altitude and hard weather.
After the SRMC was established, it will function as a one-stop communication center for workers in terms of extortion and also for complaints complaints.
The State Labor Secretary Prawin Kumar Toppo, who attended a tripartite meeting, said Bro had been asked to provide a complete database of its contractual workers with the Jharkhand and Ladakh government.
“In addition, the State Labor Department will also compile a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which will be suppressed between countries, bro and the Ladakh government.
The MoU will put clauses for transparency in the rules of workers and keep their interests,” Toppo said.
In particular, Jharkhand has negotiated with bro for higher wages, health insurance, additional allowances and other facilities for state contract workers since June last year.
The dissolution of the workers was first taken to the Notice of Minister of Hemant Soren by a batch of 60 migrants stranded brought to Ranchi by the state government during last May last year.
Furthermore, the Jharkhand government temporarily refused permission from Bro to transport around 15,000 workers from Santhal Pargana on a special train in June and demanded that their provision of involvement was revised first.
