JAMSHEDPUR: Jharkhand Workers Mukti Morcha (JMM) held protests outside three units owned by Tata on Wednesday during a recent proposal from Tata Cummins to shift the tax jurisdiction to Pune in Maharashtra.
JMM workers blocked the entrance gate of Tata Motors on Telco, Tata Steel Plant in Bistupur, Tata Growth Shop in Gamharia and Tata Steel Long Products Limited (TSPL) Iron Iron Mine in Noamundi for 12 hours in addition to performing demonstrations outside Cummins.
Party workers were led by nine legislators JMM petellings from the Koban division.
During peaceful sit-ins, JMM demanded that Tata Sons shifted his head office to Jamshedpur from Mumbai.
JMM MPs Ramdas Soren said: “The factory operates here.
So the headquarters must also be based here because they will take better income jharkhand.” Baharagora MLA Sanjiv Sardar demanded a conglomerate to fill his vacancies using adivasis and state moolvasis.
Jugsalai Mla Mangal Kalindi said: “At present, Tata Motors and several other companies get additional products from other countries that seize local work.” Party leadership also appealed to Cummins to not shift the jurisdiction of the pan (permanent account number).
JMM workers held a protest with a bow, arrow and party banners and raised the slogan.
They served khichdi and vegetables during lunch hours.
The party has provided Khichdi for 20,000 participants, said a local worker.
The conglomerate does not issue any statement until night.
However, the East Singhbhum government has suppressed a large number of police personnel and riot control vehicles on site protest.
SSP M Tamil Valan said that adequate security settings had been made for jaam gate protests.
While Tata Group remained silent, local entrepreneurs reacted sharply to the protest Wednesday.
“When the state government makes new efforts to take large ticket investments in the state, protests will not send a good signal to prospective investors,” said the President of the Small Industry Adjunction (Asia) Santosh Khetan.
The Confederation of All Indian Traders (CAIT) looks for Interventions Minister Hemant Soren into the issue of Cummins.
