JAMSHEDPUR: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday threatened to form an economic blockade against Tata Steel, motorcycles and other functional units from Tata Sons if the conglomeration did not approve their demands within 20 days.
A few days after leading the protest against the Cummins proposal to shift the tax jurisdiction to Pune from Jharkhand, JMM parliamentarians from the Division Koban warned the blockade conklest if they did not pay attention to the party’s demands, which included the shift in Cummins’s headquarters for Jamshedpur and employed moolvation and workers at 75 % of all total vacancies.
“We provide an ultimatum of 20 days to the Tata Group to meet our demands, the other party will be forced to launch an economic blockade,” said Ghatshila Mla JMM Ramdas Soren.
Mla further said that the decision was taken in a meeting of eight members of the JMM parliament from the Kobhan division on Thursday.
At the meeting, which was chaired by Vice President JMM and the Minister of Transportation of the State of Champai Soren, agreed that raw materials would not be allowed to enter the factory and finished goods would not be released in the economic blockade.
“All Tata Group companies operate in Kobhan, including Tata Steel and Tata Motors, will face economic blockade,” Ramdas said.
Champai has also been nominated to speak with Minister of Hemant Soren’s head and look for his intervention into this issue.
Speaking to Ti on Friday, Champai said, “The purpose of agitation is to ensure that the factories operating here must have their corporate offices in the same place and adivasis and moolvasis get priority in work.” He added, “Because we are in the government, it is our responsibility to secure the future of adivated boys and women and moolvation.” While the conglomerate remains silent on this problem, a senior official in anonymously, “Tata Sons will see this problem.”
