New Delhi: Jawaharlal University Nehru, Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia will hold an internal meeting to discuss the resumption of academic activities, after Deputy Chairperson of Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday announced that universities can be reopened since September 1.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said the government would discuss this issue after receiving official orders.
“Whatever the guidelines issued by the government regarding Covid, we will follow as an educational institution.
Our students are spread throughout the country and some of them may live in places where the pandemics are still there.
We will give them a few times back.
After The government’s command comes, we will discuss and plan so students are not left uncomfortable, “Kumar said.
The university trade union has demanded the reopening of the campus gradually.
Schools for class 9-12, colleges and coaching institutions will be reopened in the National Capital of September 1 after a prolonged closing due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The decision was taken considering the real increase in the Covid-19 situation in Delhi, following a recent wave of brutal infections that claimed many lives, with a lack of oxygen in hospitals throughout the city to add misery.
An official from Jamia Millia Islamia said the Institute of Education would wait for the UGC guidelines in this issue before making decisions about the commencement of the physical class.
“We will discuss the reopening of the campus with our decision-making agency – the Academic Council and the Executive Board and all stakeholders.
We will also wait for the UGC guidelines in this issue,” he said.
“We have many students from Kerala where a large number of Coronavirus cases are reported so we have to see.
We may not be able to open the hostel because of the right setting for food and other things need to be made,” he added.
Teacher University Gobind Singh Indraprastha and Ambedkar University said they would obey official orders and follow all guidelines.
An official from Ambedkar University said the action plan would be confirmed in consultation with school deans.
