JNU VC said the probe into last year’s violence on the campus was delayed due to covid pandemics

New Delhi: Jawaharlal University Nehru (JNU) Deputy Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said the Pandemic Coronavirus had postponed the investigation into violence on campus in January last year which killed around 35 people injured.
Asked why the committee was founded by the university to investigate the incident did not make online deposition, he said students were under a lot of stress and not the right time to send them notifications for online deposition.
Safe! You have managed to throw your voteogin to see the masked men group armed with sticks and stems attacking students and teachers and damaged properties on the JNU campus on January 5, 2020, encouraging university administration to call the police.
President of the United States of JNU Students Aishe Ghosh is among those who are injured in violence.
A few days after the incident, JNU established a five-member committee to investigate the incident and recommend steps to ensure student safety.
“The committee is watching this problem.
It must call students for deposition.
Is the right time to call them when they are in their home city? For this, we need to see the condition.
This is our student.
Considering the Covid situation, deposition has not been done.
We are waiting for the situation to normalize, “Kumar told PTI on Friday.
Asked why the committee did not make online deposition, VC said, “The situation is not conducive.
We are waiting.
Students have been under a lot of stress.
It’s not the right time to send them notices to participate in online deposition.
We don’t consider our students as criminals.
They are our own students.

In August this year, Lok Sabha was informed by the State Union Minister for the house of Nityanan and Rai that Delhi police had not arrested anyone in connection with JNU violence, even though some people were examined.
After violence, there was a commotion for the removal of Kumar as JNU VC and Delhi police came because they did not act when the hordes ran riots on campus and especially, to name the leaders of trade unions, including Ghosh, in two firs for alleged vandalism.
In the objection of the University of Nehru (Jnuta) teacher association, Jawaharlal against the contract renewal of the Cyclops Security Agency for two years by the University Executive Board (EC), Kumar said the contract had not been updated but extended until the new body appointment process was completed.
“If you want to appoint security agents, then you must follow the tender process and general financial rules set by the government.
During this Covid period, many of our staff members went down (with Coronavirus).
You can’t ask the security people to pack their bags And go and place campus security at risk, “he said.
“The EC makes a decision that the security company will continue,” he said.
VC emphasizes that the contract has not been updated but only extended until the process of appointing a new security agent is complete.
This process will require at least six months, he said.
In a statement issued on September 9, Jnuta said that EC had updated the Cyclops security contract for two years despite failure to prevent attacks on violence against students and faculty members on January 5, 2020 and a series of campus theft during the locking Covid-19.
