Pune: September results from the monthly regional economic survey conducted by the Mahrorma Chamber of Marriage, Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) showed that the level of employment and production in the Pune region touched the highest 18 months.
According to the MCCIA report, the work reached 87% – slightly higher than 86% in August – and productivity increased five percentage points to 88%.
HIGH previously reached in February this year, when production and work each reached 85% and 86%, and when the second wave hit, the two metrics each fell to 69% and 70%.
The numbers increased later, despite having concerns over high raw material prices and poor demand, and production and employment increased, according to the findings of the July survey.
McCia began conducting monthly surveys starting April 2020 in an effort to track changes in local production and employment scenarios.
Increased visible throughout the board, with large and micro, small industrial units, and small businesses (MSMEs) that record strong growth in productivity.
The more companies surveyed, including those from services and manufacturing segments, reported to reach or close to the level of pre-pandemic production, while more say that they expect a full return with predicted than expected.
McCia said that it was important for the momentum to be maintained in the coming months for meaningful recovery.
“Nearly half of the surveyed companies are at the level of pre-pandemic production and ready to enter the immediate growth phase.
This has encouraged the return of labor from the farm to the factory, from rural to urban areas.
If this momentum survives for several months, we will see The overall industrial growth of the first quarter of the next calendar year, “said Prashant Girbane, Director General of McCIA.
Girbane said a better recovery also depends on the potential of the third wave of pandemic, as well as the authorities who decide on easing further restrictions, especially in the food and beverage sectors, which are still limited in the relatively initial closure.
