Joe Biden, New Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to meet virtually

Wilmington: President Joe Biden will meet virtually with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida from Japan on Friday, because the omicron variant of Coronavirus continues to surge throughout the world.
The White House said the Sunday meeting would take place to highlight the power of A.-Japan alliance.
Both of them were looking to deepen the relationship in facing the economic and military influence of the Chinese growing in the region.
Kishida was chosen in November and the two leaders will meet for the first time.
In April, Biden met directly with Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who traveled to Washington for the conversation.
Kishida was chosen by Liberal Democrats as a safe and conservative choice.
They are afraid of losing heavy elections if Suga, which is very unpopular, has lived in the office.
He resigned after only one year in the office because his popularity fell on the handling of Coronavirus pandemic and his insistence on holding the Tokyo Olympics despite fears of a surge in the virus.
Press Secretary White Jen PSAKI said in a statement that Biden was waiting for “ work with Prime Minister Kishida to advance our shared vision for free and open Indo-Pacific, and to expand our close collaboration of critical problems such as Combatting Covid-19, handle the climate crisis, and partner with new and new technologies appear.
