Washington: President Joe Biden said Americans were closer than before to declare the independence of the deadly virus.
The president made a comment on Sunday at the fourth celebration of July in the White House.
He told the crowd of service members and first respondents to think back to where this nation last year and thought about how far the nation had come.
During short and optimistic comments, Biden said that thanks to the power of science, this country looked back at normal and the return of economic health.
But he warned that the nation had not defeated the virus, and he encouraged those who had not been vaccinated to get their shots.
He said the vaccine was important for the nation to avoid where it was a year ago.
The crowd at an optimistic event sang “Biden, Biden, Biden” when he came out to overcome it.
