Hobart: The British Test Captain Joe Root has revealed that he is considering entering the upcoming IPL auction, four years after not sold at auction for Lukrifat T20 League.
Considered as one of the great modern games, root hasn’t played on the IPL after not sold at the 2018 auction.
However, the 31-year-old dough, said he would look for the tournament only if it did not distract him from his exam career.
“Time ticks but I have a lot to weigh,” Root said, according to espncricinfo.com.
“Does it have a negative impact on me playing a test cricket? If I don’t think so then I will put myself in auction.
But I will never do anything that will reduce the cricket test for England.
It is very important to make it sure is a priority For me and other players too.
“Root has expressed his desire to play in the previous IPL too even though he has decided to oppose the auction.
Mega-Auction ahead of the upcoming season is scheduled to be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
On Wednesday, the Australian Pacer Mitchell Starc said he was also thinking of returning to the IPL after a long hiatus despite a busy schedule that included a tour of the continent and the defense of the T20 World Cup title at home later this year.
Starc, the last playing at the IPL in 2015, said he had not made a decision but put his name for the Mega League auction, the nomination was closed on Friday, “Of course on the table.” Starc won a contract worth Rs 9.4 Crore with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 but had to be released due to injury.
Even though it became one of the most valuable T20 Bowler, Pacer left arm has performed in just two IPL seasons because of injury management and workload.
