Actor Jonny Lee Miller has joined the hit series ‘The Crown’ for its fifth season as Prime Minister John Major.
Miller has some big shoes to fill as he takes on the role of PM in the royal drama, following in the footsteps of Gillian Anderson, who took home the Golden Globe and a SAG award for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in Season 4.
“Jonny Lee Miller will play John Major in the fifth season of The Crown,” read an official announcement on the series’ official social media handle.

Season 5 will go into production next month with a whole new cast ascending the throne.
Imelda Staunton will play the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.
She takes on the role from Olivia Colman, who took over the part from Claire Foy.
Each actress played the role of the Queen for two seasons each.
Lesley Manville will star as Princess Margaret, Jonathan Pryce will play Prince Philip, and Elizabeth Debicki features as Princess Diana.
According to reports, Miller will head to 10 Downing Street to play the role of Major, for the series that is said to be based around the prime minister’s tenure lasting seven years.
The critically-acclaimed drama series will conclude after its sixth season that is expected to go on floors in 2022.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, series creator and showrunner Peter Morgan said, “At the outset, I had imagined The Crown’ running for six seasons but now that we have begun work on the stories for season five it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop.”
