Ghaziabad: A local journalist and other people who posed as a crime branch inspector had been arrested by Ghaziabad police for allegedly extending Rs 8 lakh from the owner of the illegal firecrackers.
The police claimed to have restored Rs 5.5 lakh from the ownership of the duo.
The defendant has been identified as Naveen Chaturvedi aka Bobby Pandit and Hemant Chauhan, both the residents of Ghaziabad.
Naveen told the police that he runs the online news portal.
Chauhan is a stock broker.
Diksha Sharma, SP (crime), said that a few days ago, the police had stormed an illegal fireworks manufacturing factory in Madhuban Bapudham and arrested six people.
Crackers are worth more than RS 3 Crore also recover.
But the owner of the factory, Manoj Jain and Lalit Goyal, are currently underway.

They are produced in court and are returned in judicial custody.
