New Delhi: Two Delhi-based female journalists who were arrested on charges of publishing fake news aimed at disturbing communal harmony, guaranteed by the court in Tripura Gomati Regency.
Both on Sunday were detained by Tripura police after FIR was registered against them to incite communal tensions.
Journalists identify as – Sammiddhi K Sakunnya and Jha Swarna, presented notice to record their statements.
They have arrived in the state on Thursday to cover communal flares reported.
They have visited Kakraban from Udaipur in the Gomati District on arrival, followed by bordering areas dominated by a minority in Western Tripura and Sepahijala.
A senior police officer said on Agartala on Sunday journalists were posted on social media that a mosque was burned in the Gomati district and the copy of the Al-Quran was damaged.
Tripura police suspected that the video was uploaded by them didxotor.
The press release issued by the TRIPURA VS YADAV police chief’s office claimed that the posts from Sakunia were incorrect and promoting a sense of hatred among the people.
