Bhubaneswar: The Male FIH junior world cup match will be held without spectators in the Kalinga Stadium, given the applicable pandemic situation.
Indian hockey on Tuesday announced that Marquee Quadrennial Meet, scheduled to be held from November 24 to December 5, will be a television special event.
Hundreds of hockey fans, who were eager to watch the best junior players in the world in action, expressed their displeasure of development.
“I am very happy when Bhubaneswar is named after a place for the Marquee event.
I hope to watch the best junior hockey players in the world.
I never missed the 2018 men’s World Cup single match and other major international tournaments held here.
Since Covid’s situation has risen, Indian hockey must allow the minimum audience, “said Biplab Dash, a hockey lover.
Sangram Nayak, another hockey fan, said the international team loved playing at Kalinga Stadium for the support they got from the audience.
“The crowd here is considered a twelfth player.
The tournament will not be too interesting if the audience is not allowed,” added Nayak.
Indian Hockey said because of the popularity of sports in this region and the expected crowd in the stadium, the committee believed that it was impossible to control the collection and follow Covid guidelines during the event.
“Social distance is a priority because of the applicable pandemic situation and the security of fans and athletes needs to be prioritized.
For organizers, it is very important to hold tournaments in the environment where the health and safety of the participating team is very important.” Said Hockey India.
Only accredited people who will be allowed to attend the meeting, the official source said.
The State Sports Department has gone without stone missed to make arrangements for the Mega tournament.
Odisha has a brilliant record of great international hosting to meet successfully in the past.
