Lucknow: Sabeera Haris, 14, and Areeba Khan, 20, may seem like other girls of age but what distinguishes them is the perfect focus of those who never miss Bullseye.
Two talented girls from UPS Aligarh were champion shooting sports that would represent the country in the World Cup Junior Championship (Rifle) in Kazakhstan later this month and in the Junior World Championship in Peru in September.
Sabeera Haris will make his international debut this year.
He scored 112.63 of 125 in trial traps and raised it to 116 in the next trial.
His father, Haris-ul-Islam, is a skeet shooter.
Sabeera developed interest in shooting in 2018 and managed to make a sign for himself in three years.
Areeba, a student of BA Fine Arts (second year) from the University of Aligarh, has topped the test of selection in shooting Skeet with an average of 117.13 points from 125.
“Shooting is in my family.
My father Khalid Khan and Brother Mohd Umair Khan also became a shooting and I used to accompany them to the shooting range.
I developed interest in shooting in 2013, “Areeba said.
While his father was the Secretary of the Rifle District Association, his brother had participated in the Junior International Shooting Championship.
“I feel blessed to be able to represent my country abroad and win medals.
My family is very supportive and helps me achieve my dreams,” he said, adding that sports do not get appreciation they deserve and must be encouraged to give that best.
“I was lucky to have Olympian Maairaj Ahmed Khan as my coach,” he said.
Talking about his challenge, he said difficult for girls to get a license even after becoming an international shooter.
“Sometimes it’s even more difficult for us than it’s for the normal public.
Another thing I want to say is very important to encourage women in sports or other fields.
During the Tokyo Olympics, women have shown their true potential.” Even in the event I myself, women’s performance is not inferior to men, sometimes they are even better, “he said.
Coach Areeba Maairaj Ahmed Khan said,” I have trained Areeba since his childhood and he is like a family member for me.
He is one of the best shooters in this country and will definitely win a medal for the country.
