Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister and opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday the government had to conduct judicial investigations in Lathicharge in Karnal.
He said ‘Lok-tantra’ could not be allowed to change to ‘lath-tantra’.
“There should be an investigation under the authority of what officials in Karnal ordered the police to hit the head of the farmer.
Because this is police jurisdiction, there are no police officers who can give such orders in such circumstances.
The order is given to hit the head of the farmer? This should be Become a subject of investigations, “said the former minister’s chairman.
Hooda, who talked to reporters at Chandigarh, once again condemned the brutality of farmers and stressed that in democracy everyone had the right to protest their demands.
“These people’s rights cannot be taken by those in power.
The farmers held sit-ins at Bastara Toll Plaza, about 15 km from BJP’s place.
But the police, adopted autocratic and repressive policies, made them lathicharged,” he said.
Hooda said after Lathicharge, there was also sad news about the loss of life of a farmer Gharunda because of a heart attack due to trauma and said Postmortem would tell us about what caused the death of farmers.
He expressed his condolences to the families of martyrdom farmers and demanded the government to provide appropriate compensation to the family.
Hooda said like the Punjab government, the BJP-JJP government must also provide financial assistance and one work of each government to farmers who sacrifice their lives during agitation.
“If the government currently does not do this, then this will be done when the Congress government is formed,” he promised.
Hooda said around 600 agitators lost their lives so far due to government brutality.
“The government must ensure that it does not create a situation of conflict with farmers in the future.
The government must communicate with farmers sensitively and sympathetic and find a positive solution for the earliest movement,” he said.
