Railway Junction Coimbatore station has been awarded platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Board (IGBC) from the Indian Industrial Confederation.
The station scored 83 points from 100 points and received platinum rating after the evaluation process.
It has become the first train station on the southern train and the sixth train station in Indian Railways to get a prestigious rating.
The license is carried out based on six environmental categories as defined by the IGBC train station rating such as sustainable station, health, hygiene, hygiene and sanitation facilities, energy efficiency and water efficiency.
Various aspects of passenger facilities at the train station include access to stations, green cover, operation and maintenance, safe drinking water facilities, fresh air ventilation and solid waste management plans evaluated.
Five other train stations that bagged the ranking were Secunderabad, New Delhi, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam and Asansol.
